Guillermo del Toro put an inventive spin on “Pinocchio,” making the classic folk tale darker, weirder and, in many ways, more wonderful than the Disney movie you remember. It hews closer to Carlo Collodi’s 19th century story, adding eccentric ideas about parenting, mortality and authority.
