Rams continue turnover of staff

In the aftermath of a 5-12 season, Rams coach Sean McVay is turning over much of his staff.

Special teams coordinato­r Joe DeCamillis, offensive line coach Kevin Carberry, defensive backs coach Jonathan Cooley, outside linebacker­s coach Thad Bogardus, assistant defensive line coach Skyler Jones and defensive assistant Lance Schulters will not return next season, people with knowledge of the situation said.

The Dodgers were hit with a $32.4-million luxury tax for the second straight season, among six teams paying a penalty as baseball payrolls rebounded after the lockout to a record $4.56 billion . ... The Boston Red Sox agreed to terms with outfielder Adam Duvall on a contract that will pay him at least $7 million for next season, a baseball official told the Associated Press . ... Josef Martinez, the 2018 most valuable player and centerpiec­e of Atlanta United’s rise in MLS, was released and signed with Inter Miami.

Fourteen months after hiring a law firm to provide a safety assessment of its sports programs following a lawsuit that alleged a culture of hazing in the renowned football program, Santa Ana Mater Dei High confirmed the assessment was completed. However, the school gave no indication results would be shared publicly despite a commitment by the former school president, Father Walter E. Jenkins, to release the findings.

Chris Ford, a member of the Boston Celtics’ 1981 championsh­ip team, a longtime NBA coach and the player credited with scoring the league’s first three-point basket, died at 74. Ford coached the Clippers for two seasons (1998-2000).
