‘BANSHEES OF INISHERIN’

ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY

-

It’s round 3 of the BuzzMeter, when our pack of pulchritudinous motion-picture pundits project the prizewinners in 10 Oscar categories. This week, we feature their picks for original screenplay, which they see as a close contest with “The Banshees of Inisherin” (above, with Colin Farrell) barely leading “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” Whereas panelist Dave Karger thinks its awards-circuit triumphs mean that “Everything” “seems to own the momentum now,” Anne Thompson thinks “Banshees” “should have some BAFTA wins behind it when [Oscar] votes come in.” A couple of panelists wonder if the nasty, elite-skewering humor of “Triangle of Sadness” might prove too pointed for some voters, “many of whom might as well have been in the cast,” Tim Cogshell says. See all their picks at latimes.com/buzzmeter, where you can also vote for your own slate in our weekly polls.
