Winning streak ends at 20 for Florida Atlantic

Eric Gaines scored 21 points and host Alabama Birmingham ended No. 19 Florida Atlantic’s nationbest 20-game winning streak with an 86-77 victory on Thursday night.

The Owls (21-2, 10-1 Conference USA) hadn’t lost since falling to Mississippi on Nov. 11 and made their debut in the Associated Press top 25 21⁄2 weeks ago.

Jordan “Jelly” Walker had 13 points and six assists for the Blazers (16-7, 7-5) in his return from a foot injury.

Angel Reese had 23 points and 14 rebounds to extend her program-record streak of double-doubles to 22 games and help the Tigers (22-0, 10-0 Southeastern Conference) remain unbeaten.

Caitlin Clark scored 42 points to lead the Hawkeyes (18-4, 10-1 Big Ten).

at Georgia Tech 68, No. 15 North Carolina State 62:

Tonie Morgan tied her career-high with 17 points and

had two of the six free throws made by the Yellow Jackets (12-10, 3-8 Atlantic Coast Conference) late to upset the Wolfpack (16-6, 6-5).

at Texas El Paso 65, No. 21 Middle Tennessee 62:

Jazion Jackson sank a threepointer in the final second as the Miners (14-6, 7-4 Conference USA) ended the 16game winning streak of the Blue Raiders (18-3, 11-1).

at Santa Clara 77, No. 17 Gonzaga 72:

Tess Heal scored 16 points, capped by two free throws with 1.8 seconds to play, and the Broncos (14-10, 5-6 West Coast Conference) stopped the Bulldogs’ 14-game winning streak.
