Kansas hangs on, tops Texas

Gradey Dick scored 21 points, Dajuan Harris Jr. had 17 points, six rebounds and five assists, and No. 9 Kansas held on after blowing a 14-point, first-half lead to beat fifth-ranked Texas 88-80 on Monday night.

Kevin McCullar Jr. added 16 points, helping the Jayhawks (19-5, 7-4 Big 12) overcome a two-point night from top scorer Jalen Wilson, whose streak of 25 games with double digits ended.

Women

No. 11 Virginia Tech 73, at No. 22 North Carolina State 61: Georgia Amoore scored a career-high 27 points with five threes, Elizabeth Kitley had 25 points and 14 rebounds and Virginia Tech won in the Play4Kay game.

Polls

Purdue remained atop the Associated Press men’s poll despite losing its second game of the season. Houston rose to No. 2, followed by Alabama, Arizona and Texas. UCLA is No. 7. South Carolina remained No. 1 in the women’s poll for the 33rd consecutiv­e week. Indiana moved up to No. 2.
