An epiphany for inclusiveness
Reading one of these letters was one of my most bizarre experiences.
One writer refers to the revelation that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints had in 1978 clearing the way for Black men to serve in the priesthood, “reversing their exclusion of about 130 years.” The writer concludes, “The Southern Baptist Convention needs a similar epiphany by its leadership regarding female pastors.”
The irony here is painful. Painful. Painful.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints holds fast to the exclusion of women in the priesthood. So, I’d like to offer this suggestion to that church: Seek yet another revelation, one that extends the priesthood to its women.
