Tennessee’s Zeigler out for year

Tennessee point guard Zakai Zeigler will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

The 12th-ranked Volunteers announced Wednesday that Zeigler tore his left anterior cruciate in Tuesday night’s win over Arkansas. Zeigler is leading the Southeaste­rn Conference in assists, averaging 5.4 per game. He’s also tied for second on the team in scoring, averaging 10.7 points, while leading the team and ranking in the SEC’s top five in steals.

Adama Sanogo scored 26 points to lead five players in double figures and the Huskies (23-7, 12-7 Big East) closed out their home schedule by handing the Blue Demons their 11th consecutiv­e loss.

Souley Boum scored a season-high 33 points and Colby Jones added 29 to help the Musketeers (22-8, 14-5) hand the Friars (21-9, 13-6) their first home loss and clinch the second seed in the Big East tournament.

Vanderbilt 68, at No. 23 Kentucky 66:

Jordan Wright hit a go-ahead fall-away jumper in the lane with 2.6 seconds left to finish with 23 points, and the Commodores (17-13, 10-7 SEC) beat the Wildcats (11-6, 20-10) for their first win at Rupp Arena since January 2007.

at Notre Dame 88, No. 25 Pittsburgh 81:

Marcus Hammond and Cormac Ryan each scored 20 points as the Fighting Irish (11-19, 3-16 Atlantic Coast Conference) won longtime coach Mike Brey’s final home game and stopped a seven-game skid.
