No. 10 Baylor falls to Iowa State
Gabe Kalscheur hit six three-pointers and scored 24 points, helping Iowa State overcome a spectacular performance by Baylor forward Jalen Bridges and sending the Cyclones to a 78-72 victory over the No. 10 Bears in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament on Thursday at Kansas City, Mo.
Jaren Holmes scored 17 points, Tamin Lipsey had 12 and Tre King 10 for the fifthseeded Cyclones (19-12), who followed up a win over the Bears (22-10) on Saturday by beating them for the fifth time in six conference tournament games.
No. 3 Kansas 78, West Virginia 61: Jalen Wilson had 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead the top-seeded Jayhawks (26-6) over the Mountaineers (19-14) in the Big 12 quarterfinals.
No. 6 Marquette 72, St. John’s 70 (OT): Tyler Kolek had 19 points after halftime and the top-seeded Golden Eagles (26-6) rallied over the Red Storm (18-15) in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament at New York.
No. 13 Virginia 68, North Carolina 59: Jayden Gardner had 17 points to lead the Cavaliers (24-6) over the Tar Heels (20-13) in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament at Greensboro, N.C.
No. 20 San Diego State 64, Colorado State 61: Lamont Butler scored 16 points and the top-seeded Aztecs (25-6) held off the Rams (1518) in quarterfinals of the Mountain West Conference tournament at Las Vegas.
Big West
UC Irvine 75, Cal State Bakersfield 51: JC Butler scored 13 points as 11 players scored for the top-seeded Anteaters (23-10) in an easy win over the Roadrunners (11-22) in a conference tournament quarterfinal game at Henderson, Nev.
Cal State Fullerton 62, Hawaii 60 (OT): Max Jones scored 18 points and Latrell Wrightsell Jr. had 14 points and 10 rebounds as the Titans (19-12) overcame a buzzer-beater at the end of regulation by Noel Coleman of the Rainbow Warriors (2211) to prevail in a quarterfinal game.
UC Santa Barbara 64, Cal Poly 54: Ajay Mitchell scored 24 points and the Gauchos (25-7) took the lead midway through the second half and gradually pulled away from the Mustangs (825) in a quarterfinal game.
UC Riverside 68, UC Davis 52: Zyon Pullin scored 19 points while Flynn Cameron chipped in 14 to lead the Highlanders (22-11) past the Aggies (18-14) in a quarterfinal game.
Western Athletic
Sam Houston 64, California Baptist 51: Taran Armstrong had 10 points, six rebounds and four assists, but the Lancers (17-16) fell short against the Bearkats (25-6) in a quarterfinal game at Las Vegas.
Women
East Carolina 46, Houston 44: Kamryn Jones’ layup with 18 seconds left lifted the Pirates (23-9) over the Cougars (15-16) in the championship of the American Athletic Conference to clinch an automatic NCAA tournament bid.

Patrick Ewing was fired as men’s coach at Georgetown after the Hoyas finished the season 7-25. Ewing, who led Georgetown to a national championship in 1984 as a player, coached six seasons and had a record of 75109 . ... California men’s coach Mark Fox was fired after four seasons as the Golden Bears finished 3-29 for the worst season in school history . ... Kansas coach Bill Self will miss the Big 12 tournament after going to the emergency room Wednesday for what doctors called “a standard procedure,” and it's uncertain whether he will be back for the NCAA tournament.
