Morant banned for eight games

Ja Morant will be back with the Memphis Grizzlies next week, after the NBA gave the All-Star guard an eight-game suspension for displaying a firearm “in an intoxicate­d state” at a club.

“He has expressed sincere contrition and remorse for his behavior,” Commission­er Adam Silver said.

Coach Taylor Jenkins doesn’t expect Morant to play Monday.
