Colts owner: QB likely for surgery

-

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay believes rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson may need seasonending surgery on his injured throwing shoulder.

“The most likelihood is he’s probably going to be gone for the year,” Irsay said.

Richardson, on injured reserve, missed his second game Sunday. Drafted No. 4 in April, he was off to a promising start, throwing for 577 yards and three touchdowns and becoming the first quarterback of the Super Bowl era with touchdown runs in each of his first three NFL games.

But he missed the final minute of the season opener with a bruised knee and sore ankle, left with a concussion in the first half of Week 2, and missed the following week while in the concussion protocol. Then, one week after returning to the field and finishing his first NFL game, he hurt his shoulder.
