- By Matt Brennan

New categories. New voters. New network. Even a new trophy. After a 2021 Times investigation of the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn.’s diversity failures and ethical shortcomings sparked an existential crisis for “Hollywood’s biggest party,” the Golden Globes attempted to turn the page Sunday with the awards’ 81st edition, and after a bruising year of dual strikes and disappointing box office, Tinseltown was ready to welcome the awards back into the fold.

Led by host Jo Koy, a starry lineup of presenters including Will Ferrell, America Ferrera and Oprah Winfrey handed out prizes during the live telecast on CBS and Paramount+, with nominations leaders like “Oppenheimer,” “Barbie,” “Succession” and “The Bear” all scoring multiple statuettes.
