Barbara Marie Tracy

Barbara Marie Tracy, 81, born in Niles, Michigan, on January 27, 1943 passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2024, in Downey, California. Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. After high school, Barbara left Michigan for California, where she built her life.

Barbara found great joy in her hobbies, including her dedication to gardening. She had a green thumb and spent countless hours tending to her garden and sharing the fruits of her labor with those she loved. Cooking was another passion of hers, she delighted in preparing delicious meals for her family and friends. For many years Barbara was active in her community and the Unity Church where she enjoyed her faith and many friendships. Barbara enjoyed a fulfilling career as a secretary at Reliance Steel, where she worked in the executive offices for many years. She was known for her dedication and hard work in her profession. In retirement, Barbara and her husband Herb traveled the country in their RV, making cherished memories and friends along the way.

Barbara will be remembered for her vibrant personality and determination.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Herb Tracy, her daughter Tamara (Alex) Herrera, and her two granddaughters, Allie and Elisa Herrera, whom she adored. Barbara’s greatest joy was her two granddaughters. She embraced every moment with Allie and Elisa including sleep-overs, swimming, road trips, reading, and spending time in the RV.

A celebration of life will be held for Barbara at their home on Saturday, March 23rd from 1:00 – 3:00.
