Skenes to make major league debut

Paul Skenes, the top pick in last year’s amateur draft will make his major league debut for the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday when they face the Chicago Cubs, the Associated Press reported.

The 21-year-old former standout at El Toro High has dominated opponents at triple A. Skenes, whose fastball regularly hits triple digits, has a 0.99 earned-run average in seven starts with 45 strikeouts in 271⁄3 innings.
