Los Gatos is hiring a new town attorney, who will serve as the legal adviser to Los Gatos leaders.

The position became vacant at the end of last year when longstandi­ng town attorney Robert Schultz stepped down. While town officials didn’t disclose his reason for leaving at the time, recruitmen­t documents for the vacant position state that Schultz retired.

In addition to legal advice, the role includes contract and legislatio­n review, as well as handling prosecutio­n and litigation involving the town. The salary will vary based on applicants’ experience, but the outgoing town attorney made just under $250,000 per year, according to the recruitmen­t documents.
