Silicon Valley Realtors congratulate 2022 NHORA Santa Clara County leadership team
The Silicon Valley Association of Realtors and other members of the real estate community congratulated the 2022 president, officers and directors of the National Hispanic Organization of Real Estate Associates (NHORA) Santa Clara County chapter at their installation on Feb. 17 at SAP Center in San Jose. Representing the local Realtor group at the event, which included dinner and the Sharks vs. Canucks game, were SILVAR President
Brett Caviness and past president Joanne Fraser.
NHORA’S 2022 leadership team includes Violeta Perez, a Realtor with Century 21 Real Estate Alliance, president; Marcelle
Eich, a mortgage banker
with Bank of the West, vice president; Martha Lopez, a Realtor with Sellingly, secretary; affiliated professional Michael Quezada, sergeant-at-arms; Michelle Perry, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty, immediate past president; and directors Gloria Trawick, sales manager at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, Cheri Romero, a Realtor with Keller Williams, and Marbella Villarreal, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty.
Perez is a native of San Jose and a graduate of San Jose State University. She worked with Barry Swenson Builders in college and later worked in high tech public relations in the Bay Area. Real estate pulled Perez back and after a few years working with a title company, she earned her real estate license in 2007.
“I love what I do. It’s gratifying helping clients reach their housing goals. I also worked in affordable housing for five years, something I strongly support,” said Perez.
During her termas president, Perez said she would like to grow NHORA’S membership and expand the association’s scholarship program for high school seniors and college students of Latino descent. She hopes to collaborate and build stronger ties with Realtor associations and other diverse groups in the county.
“NHORA believes together we are stronger,” said Perez.
This year the group is planning at least two educational events - a “Top Producer Panel” and “Technology & Tools for Agents.” Other upcoming events include the group’s first annual golf tournament, a program on “The Road to Homeownership,” and a Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) networking event. The latter is a holiday of Mexican origin traditionally celebrated each year from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2, when family and friends gather to pay respects and to remember friends and family members who have died.
NHORA was founded in San Jose 13 years ago and now has eight different chapters in Northern California. The organization’s mission is “to promote Hispanic leadership within the context of community building, commerce, and transparency in the advancement of sustainable homeownership.”
“We wish Veronica Perez and the 2022 NHORA officers and board directors much success in achieving their goals this year,” said Caviness. “We realize for many organizations it has been difficult to operate and network with others during the pandemic, but as Realtors, we continued to help our clients achieve their dream of homeownership in every way we could, through virtual home tours, video chats, virtual showings, and eventually in-person showings under strict COVID-19 guidelines. SILVAR promotes homeownership for all and is happy to serve as a resource for members of NHORA and other multicultural real estate associations.”
