Patricia (Pat) Mclane Ruch
Apr. 21, 1930 - Apr. 24, 2022
Resident of Los Gatos
Pat left this earth on April 24, 2022, just days after her 92nd birthday. She was born on April 21, 1930, in Pasadena, California, but spent most of her childhood in Saratoga, where she and her brother Robert (Bobby) Mclane were raised by their loving mother, Doris Conway. Pat grew up during the depths of the depression era, resulting in a lifetime of strength and resilience.
Pat was curious and adventurous, and not afraid to stand up for what she believed in. She was a trailblazer for women working in law enforcement and mentored many officers throughout her 20-year career. Pat was also the first appointed female police Lieutenant and Captain for the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department until her retirement in 1982.
Pat was previously married to Nick Miljevich, and through this Union her only child, Mitchell Miljevich was born. Pat remarried to Ernie Ruch in 1962, and was a devoted wife until his death in 2001.
Pat loved to travel, participate in community organizations and clubs, and engage in philanthropic causes, especially those connected to animals and children. She touched the hearts of those whose path she crossed, and her infectious laugh and positive energy will not be forgotten.
Pat is survived by her son Mitchell, nephew Ted Miljevich, nieces Lorraine Patricia Mclane Boggs, and Kathleen Mclane Thatch, along with many close friends, including Mary Lou Butera and family.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Pat’s life on May 13, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at the Saratoga Federated Church, 20390 Park Place, Saratoga, California. For those who are unable to attend, a livestream of the service can be viewed at https://vimeo. com/705514974/c66c6a4f11
