Residents should expect ballots week of Oct. 12

-

The county will be mailing out about 245,000 ballots and expects the number of ballots issued to rise to about 250,000 by Election Day as more people continue to register to vote. Residents can register with Larimer County up to Nov. 3; details are available online at votelarimer.org.

Residents should call the Larimer County Election Office by Oct. 21 if they have not received their ballots and should put completed ballots in the mail no later than Oct. 26 to ensure delivery on time, Myers said.

Voters also can drop their ballots in secure drive-up boxes open 24 hours across the county, including one at the Larimer County Loveland Campus, 200 Peridot Ave.

This year, with the coronavirus pandemic, officials urge residents to vote early, through the mail or by dropping off their ballots to avoid inperson contacts.

Voting centers will be open for people who need in-person services or choose to vote in person, but physical distancing, hand sanitizing and other safety measures will be in place.

Mostly sunny

Myers expects any lines to extend outside of buildings because of the 6-foot distance between people waiting to vote and encourages those voters to dress appropriately for the weather.

Before stopping by the voting locations, Myers encourages people to call her office first at 4987820 to see if there are other options for them to vote or obtain a ballot without having in-person contact.

Myers is expecting a turnout of about 90% in this election, which means many ballots coming in through the mail, in drop boxes and at the different voting locations. A list of service centers and 24-hour drop boxes is posted online at larimer.org//clerk/elections/voting-locations#/ map/all.

And she urges people to vote as soon as they receive their ballots.

“Vote it right away,” she said. “Because we’ve got COVID, please, please, please don’t procrastinate.”

She also urged residents to not believe everything they read on social media. She asked people, if they believe there is an issue, to call her directly at 498-7852 to ensure they receive good information.

“I’m here,” Myers said. “Ever ything is at votelarimer.org, or you can contact me.”
