Larimer County reports nearly 200 new cases

Total since March stands at 4,274

The Larimer County health depar tment repor ted nearly 200 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, bringing the cumulative total since March to 4,274.

The 194 new cases were all confirmed by nasal swab-type testing.

They included 112 residents of Fort Collins, 52 from Loveland, 12 from Wellington, six from Berthoud, six from Estes Park, two from Timnath, two from Johnstown, one from Windsor and one from Cedaredge.

The ages ranged from a 4-year-old girl and 5-year-old boy, both from Loveland, to a 79-year-old man, also from Loveland.

In all, the new cases included six children under 18, 87 people age 18-29, 36 in their 30s, 27 in their 40s, 14 in their 50s, 19 in their 60s and five in their 70s.

The Larimer County Department of Health and Environment also tracks suspect cases, which was unchanged Saturday at 502. These are people who tested positive via an antibody test but never showed symptoms.

The county’s overall risk assessment remained high with the new additions.

Factors adding to the assessment included a rate of 271 cases per 100,000 residents over a two-week period ending Saturday, 91% of intensive care unit beds

being in use as of Friday, and a rate of 129 new positive cases within a 24-hour period as of Friday.

Over the prior two weeks, 5.1% of tests have been positive, considered a medium risk factor.

The number of deaths remains 57 and the number of outbreaks since March is 78.
