The Larimer County Department of Health and Environment reported Monday that an additional 4,951 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered across Larimer County.

The 218,948 doses include both first and second doses of the vaccine, administered at pharmacies, clinics and health care facilities.

Across the county, 88,545 residents are considered fully vaccinated, meaning they have both doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or the single Johnson & Johnson shot. This amounts to 29.9% of residents 16 and older who are eligible for the shot or 24.8% of the total population.

The Larimer County Department of Health has scheduled several pop-up clinics strategically designed to reach residents who are minorities or who may have barriers to receiving the vaccine.

And on Monday, a grassroots effort called Noco

Gets Vaccinated announced that local community organizations, public health and others are working together to provide updated information about the COVID-19 vaccine and services for residents of color.

“The initiative aims to build trust among the community, while ensuring accessibility to vaccine supply for the Larimer County BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) community,” according to a press release, which refers residents to NocoGetsvaccinated.com for information that is culturally relevant and in both Spanish and English.

Across Colorado, according to the initiative, only 2% of Black residents are vaccinated, 4.9% of Latinx and less than 1% of Native American residents. Meanwhile, residents of color are more likely to be hospitalized or die from COVID-19 than their white counterparts, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Health of ficials in Colorado, and Larimer County, have said that access to the vaccine is not the only barrier, and they are also working to combat mistrust and misinformation surrounding the vaccine. The Noco Gets Vaccinated initiative, a growing coalition of agencies, is working to address those concerns.

Larimer County’s vaccine statistics, on the Health Department website, show 26.4% of white residents (79,029) are vaccinated compared with 18% of those who are not white and also not Latinx (2,920), and 7.8% of the county’s Latinx population (3,227).

Officials do not know the race of another 3,369 residents who are vaccinated.

The Larimer County Department of Health also tracks the number of new coronavirus cases and of deaths attributed to COVID-19. Those numbers were not updated on Sunday or Monday, staying at 23,625 total cases and 234 deaths since March 2020.

The last reported death was March 30; none have been reported in April.

The county also did not update hospital statistics on Monday. However, the risk rating remained high, with 57 new cases reported in the previous 24 hours, a two-week positivity rating of 7.3% and a 14-day prevalence of 429 cases per 100,000 residents.
