Richard Leon Weiler Sr, age

90, of Loveland, CO passed away on April 7, 2021.

He was born on March 28, 1931 in Leavittsbu­rg,

OH to Walter Weiler and Genevieve Dusenbury. He was raised in Lock Haven, PA and graduated from Lock Haven High School. At 17 years of age, he enlisted in the Army with the 24th infantry division and was deployed to the Korean War. He was awarded 4 Battle Stars and a Combat Infantryma­n Badge for his service in Korea. He was a disabled veteran.

After the war, he attended Pennsylvan­ia State University majoring in engineerin­g. At this time, he met Patricia Barton who he married on January 23, 1953 and they settled in Wellsville, NY.

Richard and his family moved many times, from New York to Arizona and eventually settled in Northern Colorado. He completed his Bachelors of Education at Colorado State University and taught engineerin­g and drafting at Front Range Community College for 15 years.

Surviving Richard is his wife of 68 years, Patricia Weiler, and 3 sons, Richard "Ric" Weiler Jr. of Loveland, CO, Roger Weiler of Phoenix, AZ and Ronald "Reg" Weiler of Masonville, CO. He is also survived by three grandchild­ren, Rob Weiler of Phoenix AZ Kim Lindeken of Windsor, CO and Katie Nixon of Fort Collins, CO as well as three great-grandsons, Ryan Lucas of Phoenix, AZ, Liam Nixon and Ryder Nixon of Fort Collins, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Ronna Lindeken and grandson Richard "Ric" Weiler III.

Richard loved research and education, continuall­y reading and expanding his knowledge on various topics. He was an inventor, owning several patents and an author who wrote several books. He enjoyed talking to people, whether they were friends or strangers.
