Man sentenced to 25 years in prison for shooting at moving vehicles on U.S. 36

A man who fired shots at moving vehicles in Adams County in an unprovoked road rage incident was sentenced Friday to 25 years in prison.

Theodore Hrdlicka, 51, following a Sept. 8 guilty plea to attempted murder, according to the Adams County District Attorney’s Office.

On Aug. 5, 2019, Hrdlicka, along with his wife, Courtney Hrdlicka, who was driving, pulled beside a vehicle from out of state with a grandfathe­r, his son, and a grandson, on U.S. 36, according to a news release. The family was going on a camping trip.

Hrdlicka brandished a gun from the passenger window and fired several shots, the release said. One bullet came close to striking the young boy, who was hit with metal fragments from the bullets that struck the moving vehicle.
