Vote for change in Thompson School District

-

By now, many TSD residents have received postcards in the mail regarding our School Board candidates. The mailers are from an independent expenditure committee (Students Deserve Better) which is tied to the Colorado Education Association Political Action Committee (CEA PAC). Students Deserve Better has received $384,000 in donations from CEA PAC and its affiliates in Denver, Aurora, and Fort Collins.

In TSD, that money was spent on a smear campaign, sending targeted mailers to voters that make dubious claims and cast change-oriented candidates in a negative a light. The mailers urge voters to support status-quo candidates and falsely claim that supporting change-oriented candidates would result in exposing students to deadly harm, would push the best teachers out of Thompson, and would create inequity in classrooms (but they don’t say how).

Only one side is playing dirty pool with these blatant lies — and that side represents the status-quo candidates. Voters in TSD are too savvy to fall for such a sleazy stunt.

On Nov. 2, I will vote for change. I will vote for the children. I will vote for a return to sanity and decency. Deborah (Dee Dee) Vicino, Nancy Rumfelt, Blake Law, and Lisa Winbourn have my vote.
