HEARTS AND HORSES TACK SALE MARCH 11

Donations to be accepted for tack sale this weekend

The Hearts and Horses Therapeutic Riding Center will be bringing back its tack sale in early March to help raise money for the nonprofit and spread the word about the work it does

The Hearts and Horses Arena Track sale was originally started in 2019, according to Donna Weyer the group’s tack shop manager; the group has a small, late 1800s-era building on the property used as a tack shop.

Donna Weyer said while they were able to hold the event in 2019, the pandemic caused its cancellation in 2020 and 2021 and family issues in 2022 kept her away from bringing it back.

However, this year she said she was able to prepare the sale and bring it back, much to the excitement of the Hearts and Horses team as well as local residents who came to the sale four years ago.

She said that the sale, made up on donated goods, will fill the 20,000-square-foot Lucky Hearts Arena with a wide array of products.

This will include saddles, show clothes, horse gear such as blankets and sheets, grooming tools and more.

“Anything you could think of that you would want for riding or showing we’ve got,” she said.

Donna Weyer added that part of the sale is making items, especially things like show clothes for kids, more accessible and affordable.

“There are a ton of gorgeous pieces,” said Donna’s daughter Lena Weyer, who is helping with the sale.

Donna Weyer added that every piece of what they sell has been donated to the program, which she said is a great representation of the community support they receive.

“It is heartwarming,” she said. “It really means the world to us, that we have that much community support.”

With the sale weeks ahead, she said the show will have multiple

benefits, including helping raise funds for the program but also teaching the community more about what they do and have to offer.

“It raises great money for the programs to support the riders,” Lena Weyer said.

Donna Weyer said the hope is that by having people come out, they will see what Hearts and

Horses does and maybe even come back later.

“What a great way for them to learn about our mission,” she said.

Donations will be accepted over the weekend and can be dropped off at the Hearts and Horses Tack Shoppe, found on the property at 163 N. County Road 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The show will be held March 11 in the Lucky Hearts Arena from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
