Gerald Rohn, 78, of Loveland Colorado passed away on March 4, 2023.

Gerald was born on March 29, 1944 to Dan and Emma Rohn in Scottsbluff Nebraska. He grew up in Morrill Nebraska with his older brother and younger sister on the family farm. While attending school in Morrill and tending to his farm chores, Gerald learned the value of hard work which comes from working the land and raising animals.

Farming was a family affair that included aunts, uncles, and cousins. When not doing chores, Gerald enjoyed playing and hanging out with his cousins who lived nearby. These cousins became so close, they were "siblings" and remained very close throughout his life. Between cousins and friends, there always seemed to be some mischief going on. At least that's the story the next generation heard!

After high school graduation, Gerald attended Nebraska School of Business in Lincoln Nebraska where he met and fell in love with Norma. They were married in Lincoln then moved and settled in Gering Nebraska where he worked for Associated Grocers (AG). He joined the Gering Fire Department as a volunteer fireman and was very proud to serve his community. When AG closed their doors in 1981, Gerald found odd jobs until more stable work came along at a local grocery store. Though their relationship turned out to be less permanent than either of them expected, Gerald and Norma went on to raise their two daughters.

After moving to Loveland Colorado in 1987, he quickly became very fond of the area where he met his second wife Shirley which ended in divorce in 1997. Working at several different grocery stores, he developed a love of helping his customers with their grocery needs even if they just needed a warm friendly smile.

Gerald was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. And recently a great-great-grandfather. He adored all his grandchildren and loved to bake cookies, make his salads and pies, and other "goodies" for them at every holiday get-together. As each great-grandchild came along, he would just make more cookies, and another pie or two.

Gerald had a love of fishing and during the warmer months he could be found at Lake Loveland sitting in his lawn chair with an umbrella attached to it and his fishing pole in the water. Fishing was a big part of his growing up and was always prepared to get "a line wet" with two or three (maybe more) poles at the ready in the back of his truck.

He is survived by his children, Angie Navarrette (Richard) of Greeley Colorado, Nadyne (Lance) Evasco of Lincoln Nebraska; grandchildren: Christina (Vincente) Pena of Greeley Colorado, Nick Navarrette of Greeley Colorado, Ashley Navarrette of Greeley Colorado, Casandra (Donald) Johnson of Greeley Colorado, Candido (Nahla) Navarrette of Greeley, Colorado, and Anthony (Abby) Navarrette of Greeley Colorado; Twenty great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild; One brother: Marvin (Norma) Rohn of Ankeny IA; One sister: Marilyn (Gary) Hoffstetter of Jackson Missouri; as well as many very beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Memorial service will be held on Monday March 20, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Loveland Colorado at Viegut Funeral Home, 1616 N.
