LOVELAND Loveland Orchestra

The Loveland Orchestra will present the next concert of its 2023-24 season, “Reinterpre­tation,” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Mountain View High School, 3500 Mountain Lion Drive.

At 7 p.m., Conductor Luciano R. Silvestri Jr. will offer a discussion of the music in the program.

The season’s theme is “Beg, Borrow, & Steal,” celebratin­g the way composers use something old to create something new.

The concert begins with “Variations on a Theme by Haydn” by Brahms, a set of variations from the theme from “St. Anthony Chorale.” Next, the orchestra plays music by Hans Zimmer from “Gladiator,” and the audience will notice the similariti­es to the next piece, “Mars, The Bringer of War” from “The Planets,” composed by Gustav Holst. After a brief intermissi­on, the orchestra performs “Korngold’s

Suite” from the early Hollywood film “King’s Row.”

The audience can then listen for borrowed music in the final piece, “Star Wars Suite” by John Williams.

Tickets at the door are $15 for adults, $10 for students, and free for children 12 and under. Packages of 6 tickets are $80 for adults and $50 for students. They are also available online at lovelandor­chestra.org/buy-tickets.html with an additional $1 handling fee.

Trey Taylor Benefit Concert

Trey Taylor will perform at 6 p.m. Friday, March 8, at the Rialto Theater Center, 228 E. Fourth St.

Taylor is an up-and-coming country artist with a soulful sound.

All proceeds from ticket sales and donations will go to Loveland Housing Authority and Aspire nonprofit supportive services.

Tickets are $27-$122.

‘Freaky Friday’

The Thompson Valley Theatre Company will present “Freaky Friday” at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, March 7-8, and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Thompson Valley High School, 1669 Eagle Drive.

After an overworked mother and her teenage daughter magically swap bodies, they have just one day to put things right again. The musical is based on the novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films.

‘Connection to the Land’

The artwork of Tony Ortega and the Loveland Art Museum will be featured in the Dunning Gallery at the Loveland Museum, 503 N. Lincoln Ave., opening to the public on Friday, March 8.

This exhibition will feature prints from the Loveland Museum’s art collection, as well as original prints from Denver artist Tony Ortega. Drawing from his cultural connection to the land, Ortega will lead students in two different workshops in the Print Shop at the Beet Education Center.

The exhibit will remain on view through Sunday, May 12.

‘Amache Today’

The artwork of Phillip Tigges will be featured on 12 Ft of Wall at the Loveland Museum, 503 N. Lincoln Ave., opening to the public on Friday, March 8.

Phillip Tigges’ black and white photograph­s of present day Amache honor his parents Ernest and Stella Tigges and the incarcerat­ed Japanese Americans who lived at Amache between 1942 and 1945 during World War II. Tigges and his family lived at Amache while his father was employed by the War Relocation Authority as an agricultur­al supervisor.

The exhibit will remain on view through Sunday, June 9.

Painters Kay Keyes Farrar and Alley Kocinski, Joe Anastasia with woodworkin­g and Gail Frick with fused glass will be featured artists at the Lincoln Gallery, 429 N. Lincoln Ave., from Friday, March 8, through Thursday, March 14.

Gallery hours are noon-6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.

Night on the Town

Downtown Loveland’s Night on the Town event will take place at 5-9 p.m. Friday, March 8.
