Will replacement party arise from those chased from GOP?

-

Whether she drew the short straw or was campaigning to be Trump’s VP, we may never know about Katie Britt. But we do know that she’d make a pretty bad actress. Sure, there was an immigrant who suffered the unfortunate experience she described, only it occurred in Mexico and while George W. Bush was president!

But then facts are not something Republicans worry about under Trump. Heck, the man told over 30,000 whoppers during his four years in office, and he shows no sign of letting up this time around.

He already cost himself $88 million and change for defaming (read lying about) Ms. Carroll. Then there’s the $454 million and growing he owes New York State for fraud. But not to worry. He has family heading the RNC. I’m sure he’s already figured out how to get someone else to pay his fines.

But how does Trump get others to lie for him? Rudy Giuliani and Mark Meadows and Ms. Britt, to name a few, are all willing to trash their reputations by following him over the cliff? For that matter, how will the GOP ever clear its own name?

Abraham — “Honest Abe” — Lincoln was the first Republican president in the U.S. Republicans replaced the Whigs because of the Whigs’ stance on slavery. Will dishonesty and disdain for democracy bring about the demise of the Republican Party? Will its replacement rise from the ranks of those chased out of the party by the MAGA crowd — like Ken Buck? Will he and others build a new GOP, but this time a party with integrity?

Trump is still choosing Putin and other dictators over America. Ben Franklin warned that we had a republic, if it could keep it. For over 200 years there was no doubt about it. Now who knows?
