LOVELAND Carolyn Forché

Internatio­nally acclaimed poet Carolyn Forché is coming to Loveland, with three separate ticketed events.

Forché is a memoirist, translator and editor, as well as a poet. Her book of poetry, “In the Lateness of the World,” was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and a winner of the American Book Award.

At 7-8:30 p.m. Friday April 12, there will be a VIP Reception for sponsors (those who donate $100 or more) at the Devereaux Room above the Rialto Theater Center, 228 E. Fourth St. The event includes appetizers and cash bar.

At 1-3 p.m. Saturday April 13, an interview session will be held in the Rialto Theater with Caroline Forché and Evan Oakley. A meet and greet book signing will be held in the lobby. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.

At 7-9 p.m. Saturday April 13, Forché will give a reading in the Rialto Theater followed by book signing in the lobby. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students.

Art Teachers Exhibit

“Art Teachers to the Fore,” an exhibit of works by art teachers in the Thompson School District, goes on display with a reception during Night on the Town at 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 12, at the Loveland Museum, 503 N. Lincoln Ave., in the Green Room Gallery.

Explore the inspiratio­n and motivation that drives the teaching artist.

The art will be on display through June 23. Admission is free.

‘Animal Bodies’

“Animal Bodies,” an exhibit by artist Jacquelynn Perkins, will open at 6-9 p.m. Friday, April 12, at Artworks Center for Contempora­ry Art, 310 N. Railroad Ave.

“Rebellious At Heart” reflects Perkins’ exploratio­n of sisterhood, showcasing themes of women empowermen­t and the intricacie­s of feminine energy. The Loveland artist weaves an intricate and captivatin­g tapestry of emotional resilience, feminine energy, and human connection through paint on canvas.

During the opening evening, Andrea Dratch, a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, NYC, and Perkins’ sister, will offer performanc­e art and a short film premiere, “Shame on Me”.

The show will be on exhibit through May 3. An artist talk will be held at 6 p.m. April 20.

Night on the Town

Downtown Loveland’s Night on the Town event will take place at 5-9 p.m. Friday, April 12.

Downtown art galleries will hold openings and events, and businesses offer events and specials as well.

Monster Trucks

The Toughest Monster Truck Tour will be in Loveland for shows at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 12, and 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Blue Arena, 5290 Arena Circle.

The event will include the return of Dirt Crew and 2023 Tour Champion Tailgator.

Tickets are $32-$42 in advance. Adult tickets are $5 more at the door.

Student Art Show

Join the Aims Loveland Campus for the opening of the Aims Student Art

Show at 5:30-8 p.m. Friday, April 12, at the Loveland Campus, 104 E. Fourth St..

The show highlights the talent of the Aims student body. Student artists were encouraged to interpret how their art shares their culture, showcases their curiosity or creates community.

Light refreshmen­ts will be served.

Student artwork is open to the public and will remain on view through June 7.

‘Madagascar’

Northern Colorado Performing Arts (formerly HAA) will present “Madagascar: A Musical Adventure Jr.” at 7 p.m. Friday, April 12, and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at 575 N. Denver Ave.

Based on the Dreamworks movie, the show follows the animal characters that escape New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey.

PEO Flower Sale

PEO-FL will hold its 42nd annual Flower Sale Fundraiser this year on Thursday May 9, Noon to 4:00 PM at Faith Church 2707 N. Wilson Ave. in Loveland.

Hanging baskets, flowering pots, grasses and potted plants will be available.

Funds raised will go for education scholarshi­ps to deserving women in the Loveland/fort Collins area.

FORT COLLINS Fort Collins Symphony

Fort Collins Symphony will present “Then and Now: Reel Music” at 7 p.m. Friday, April 12, at Timberline Church Auditorium, 2908 S Timberline Road.

The evening will feature memorable music from Hollywood’s Silver Screen, including the iconic themes of “Star Wars,” “Titanic,” “Dances with Wolves” and “Schindler’s List,” as well as music from “Rocky,” “The Sound of Music,” “Chariots of Fire,” “The Pink Panther,” “The Shape of Water,” “The Lion King” and more.

Members of Fort Collins Comic Con will be in costume at the performanc­e to pose for pictures with audience members before the concert. Attendees can join them by dressing up as their favorite film or TV characters, but are asked to leave costume weapons at home.

GREELEY Santana Tribute

Aims Community College will present a tribute to the music of Santana, featuring live music, dance and a multimedia presentati­on of student artwork, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, at the Aims Welcome Center, 4901 W. 20th St., on the Greeley campus.

Aims Professor of Music Rick Busson is organizing this event as an opportunit­y to use music to bring people from different generation­s and multiple ethnicitie­s together.

Transcultu­ral fusion dance group Troupe Sidysaan will perform a few songs in a Mexican skirt dance style. One of the group’s founders, Sandy Myers, is an Aims physical education instructor who teaches yoga and pilates.

The content will be in both English and Spanish.

Admission is free. Donations will go to Arty’s Pantry, a campus-wide pantry that provides students with food, personal hygiene products, school supplies and more.

There is a clear bag policy in place for this event.
