Toney Martinez's ’62 Chevy Impala

Success has no magic formula. It requires vision and determination coupled with a persistence that cannot be defeated. So when Toney “SD Tone” Martinez spotted his neighbor’s ’62 Impala he knew he had to have it, so he set up a game plan.

The plan was simple. The only way he saw himself getting the car was to ask if it was for sale. So, one day he asked his neighbor if it was up for grabs and the owner’s reply was simply: “No.” But that wasn’t enough to deter him from asking his neighbor again and again. With a persistence that could easily be defined as harassment, he asked his neighbor almost every day if it was for sale —a process that lasted well over 15 years.

But much like success itself, all you have to do is win once to succeed. When that day finally came he jumped the gun and created this timeless classic that was well worth the wait.
