Lady Lions get bounce back win against Prescott, fall to Centerpoint
After falling to county and conference rival Glen Rose last Tuesday, the Bismarck Lady Lions have split their past two games against conference rivals Prescott and Centerpoint.
The Lady Lions defeated Prescott 4330 last Friday at home at Holt Gymnasium in Bismarck. The Lady Lions then traveled to Centerpoint Tuesday and lost to the Lady Knights 63-38. With the loss to Centerpoint, the Lady Lions drop to 10-7 overall for the 2020-2021 season and to 4-3 in 3A-7 conference play.
Bismarck 43, Prescott 30
After the first quarter of last Friday’s game, the Lady Lions found themselves trailing 10-9 to Prescott. The Lady Lions turned it around in the second quarter by outscoring Prescott 16-6 to go into halftime with a nine point, 25-16 lead. In the second half, the Lady Lions continued to outscore Prescott, 9-8 in the third to lead 34-24 and 9-6 in the fourth to win the game 43-30.
The leading scorer for the Lady Lions was Kady Pleasants with 16 points. Behind her was Hannah Collie with 13 points. The Lady Lions were led in rebounding by Makenna Norris with 11 and Alivia Gordon with eight.
Centerpoint 63, Bismarck 38
Centerpoint jumped out to an early lead after dumping 18 points on the Lady Lions in the first quarter and holding the Lady Lions to just four points. In the second, Centerpoint added another 15 points while the Lady Lions scored 10 points to go into the half with a 33-14 lead. Centerpoint had their lowest scoring quarter in the third. Centerpoint scored just eight points while the Lady Lions had six points to lead 41-20 going into the fourth quarter. Centerpoint bounced back to drop in 22 more points to finish the night with 63 total points. The Lady Lions also had a high scoring fourth quarter with 18 points.
Collie was both the leading scorer and rebounder against Centerpoint with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
