The Malvern Leopards football team had three members sign National Letter of Intent to play football at the collegiate level Wednesday at the Bill Hunt Field House.

Lane Scarbrough, Easton West, and Malique Reliford were surrounded by family and coaches as they signed to play football at different schools around the state of Arkansas.

Scarbrough signed to play with the Henderson State University Reddies. He said that he chose HSU because he loves the school and it’s both of his parents’ alma mater. “I love their culture and thought I’d be apart of it,” he said.

It’s always been a dream of Scarbrough’s to play at the next level and said it felt good to be able to sign with the Reddies. “I’m glad to be able to go to Henderson State and show my talent.” While in school Scarbrough plans to major in pre-physical therapy and minor in sports psychology.

West signed to play with Arkansas Baptist College and be a Buffalo. West said it felt great to be able to sign to play at the next level. “It’s going to feel bad leaving my high school,” he said. “But other than that I’m ready to play up there.”

West said he made the decision to play at Arkansas Baptist College because he’s always wanted to play at a junior college. “Then watching ‘Last Chance U’ has inspired me to go play and see what I can do from there,” he said. While at Arkansas Baptist, West plans to major in criminal justice.

Reliford signed with the Ouachita Baptist University Tigers and said it felt great to be taking his career to OBU. “It’s just a great college,” he said about choosing to attend Ouachita Baptist University. “They treat you like family, and their culture is beautiful.”

Reliford plans to major in Kinesiology while at Ouachita Baptist and go on to be an athletic director.

Scarbrough, West, and Reliford were senior leaders for the Leopards football team this year and helped lead the team to a 6-6 record that included a playoff berth and win. During their time with the Leopards, they have been through an 0-10 season, a 4-7 season with a playoff berth, and a 6-6 season. West and Reliford have both earned 7-4A All-Conference honors for the 2019 and 2020 seasons.
