This article is a brief representation of What The Bible Teaches About Tithing, and how tithing benefits the believer.

Discover what the Bible teaches about tithing! What, if any, amount does the Bible teach that Christians should tithe?

It is a biblical fact that all things belong to God. After all, God is the maker and creator of the heavens and the earth, more specifically, Jesus Christ created the heavens and the earth (John 1:15). The Abrahamic covenant, is the covenant God made, obviously with Abraham, which reveals a pattern of blessing others, and being blessed as a result of it.

The fact remains that money is declared by the Bible to be the root of all evil, yet the Bible does not teach that money itself is evil. Money reveals the thoughts and intents of the heart of every human being. How we handle money declares what and who we believe.

The principal and practice of tithing is the consistent act of giving ten percent (10%) of one’s income back to the Lord and His Work. The biblical pattern of tithing is always demonstrated to the place of worship (Deut 12), also known as God’s Store House, which today is the local New Testament Church.

The Church, in turn, and as a result of being financed by those in attendance through tithing, then gives to missions, thus, is found expanding the gospel to the world.

The local New Testament Church like the temple in the Old Testament, has for its central focus the characterizing of the presence of God. It is God’s intent that the local New Testament Church operate as God’s storehouse, for the sake of expanding the Gospel and greater promises of God for three very important reasons...

Similar to the temple in the Old Testament, the local New Testament Church is God’s instrument for the propagation of God’s Word, the growth of individual Christians, and the future of the unsaved - encompassing the following:

The Work of Redemption - Romans 1:15.16. The Servants of God -Acts 13:1,5.

The Presence of God -Acts 1:8. These three attributes characterize the local New Testament Church, thus, the principle of storehouse tithing continues into the Church age.

You will find that where tithing is lacking (due to some vain argument against it) excess in one’s complicitness with the world (Mal 3:6,10).

You will also find that many believers who refuse to tithe are in a pattern of financial debt.

This demonstrates God’s desire to bless those operating in obedience to finance the local New Testament Church, thus, to propagate the mission of the great commission! Why is tithing important?

Because the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is worth bringing to all the world! This requires God’s blueprint for financing His Work. The tithe belongs to God, and openly declares the believer to be one operating in all fidelity to God, by the grace of God.

What is tithing to the believer?

It is an act of Submission to God - Prov. 3:9. It is an exacting of Protection against selfish inclinations - Mal. 3:9.

It is effective Spiritual and financial growth - Mal. 3:10.

The Christian who tithes gives more than money...

They give of themselves, and in doing so reveal the thoughts and intents of their heart to Almighty God.

Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase. Prov. 3:9.

And certainly, regarding tithing, you are not limited to ten percent (10%), and should always give from the heart. We serve a God of multiplication, who can certainly do a lot with a little!

This was God’s financial pattern before the law, during the law, and after law. Tithing further offers a variety of spiritual protections for the Believer from the devourer, which is of course, Satan (Mal. 3:11).
