Mildred Hollinger

-

Mildred S. Hollinger of Malvern finished her course on April 19, 2022, at the age of 90. She was the second daughter of C. Newman and Emma Mcdaniel Sullivan. She was a proud member of the Malvern High School class of 1949. As a teen, she worked at Massey’s Bakery Products. After high school, she worked as a secretary at a local title company, then became a secretary at National Lead (Baroid). It wasn’t long before she met a tall, handsome man at the Shack Restaurant in Malvern. After a brief courtship, they married on May 17, 1960, at First Baptist Church of Malvern. After the birth of her first child, she left National Lead to devote her complete attention to motherhood.

Mildred made her profession of faith on March 5, 1947, at First Baptist Church and was baptized later that summer. In the early seventies, Charles and Mildred joined Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, and she served on the food committee. Charles preceded her in death in 1984. She remained a faithful member at Emmanuel well into her eighties, until diminished mobility led to attending First Baptist Church with her daughter’s family.

She resided for two+ years at the Crossing Assisted Living Center and Encore Health & Rehabilitation in Malvern, where she enjoyed various social activities and received the best of care from the dedicated care providers.

Mildred was a devoted wife, mother, and friend; she also was the caregiver to her own aged mother. She was little sister to Bonnie Jean Sullivan, who passed away prior to 1931. She was Mom to Wade (Karen) Hollinger and Cynthia H. Braziel. Known as favorite mother-inlaw to Brad Braziel, she was Grandma to Daniel (Kara) Hollinger and John Hollinger, Mamaw to Ethan Braziel, and Great Grandma Mildred to Addie, Ellie, Riley, and Walker Charles Hollinger.
