De Queen no match for hometown Lady Leopards

Malvern sweeps conf. series in winning fashion on the road

DE QUEEN — The hometown Malvern Lady Leopards displayed another productive road performanc­e Tuesday and dismantled

De Queen 14-5 to explode in double- digit scoring and batting offensivel­y to sweep their conference series meeting. De Queen was no match for the visiting hometown Lady Leopards Tuesday to keep their stellar play on the road this season. Malvern tallied 14 runs with a spectacula­r 19 hits to nab one of their overall top-notch offensive displays in the batter’s box.

Katelyn Minge led the offensive spark and drilled a home run along collecting four hits and drove in four runs for four RBIS to propel a Lady Leopard standout performanc­e. Josie Nix and Emily Minge followed up with three hits apiece in the batter’s box. Emily Minge hammered a triple, a double and drove in three runs for three Rbis—while Nix had a double and two RBIS. The triple-threat of Chasney Cooper, Audrey Carr and Ashlyn “AJ” Fike each powered two hits at the plate apiece. Cooper and Carr each drove in two runs for two RBIS with Fike accounting one RBI. The second Lady Leopard triple- threat of “LG” Lauren Golden, Isabella Roseberry and Aelia Saling each hammered a hit apiece.

Sparking around the bases was led by Cooper, Fike, Emily Minge and Jenna Joynt each scoring two runs—katelyn Minge, Golden, Nix, Saling, Reese Dedman and Lainee Burnett each soared at home for a run apiece. Fike also had the lone stolen base for the team to ignite key base running.

Defensivel­y, Carr shined once again with a productive pitching display in the pitcher’s circle. Carr earned the victory and allowed seven hits, three earned runs and struck out nine batters and threw 63 strikes to heat up the strike zone across the plate. As a result, the pitching duo of Carr and K. Minge

tallied 69 strikes to flame De Queen’s catcher’s mitt across the plate.
