Eakley named new USDA-FSA director

Reba Eakley has recently become the new county executive director- USDA- Farm Service Agency for Hot Spring, Garland, Grant & Saline counties, Dallas/ Cleveland and Ouachita/ Union counties in Arkansas.

There are three open offices serving these eight counties. They are in Malvern, Fordyce and Camden. The USDA- FSA organizati­on supports the local farming communitie­s through various farm programs from cattle to timberland­s. Eakley has more than 37 years of experience working at the USDA- FSA. She has worked in the farm area of row crops, poultry, cattle and timberland.

Eakley was born and raised in Malvern. She is a graduate of Malvern High School with four additional years of college education consisting of University of Arkansas Community College and Southern Arkansas University.

Eakley has two daughters who both live close by in Hot Spring County, along with three grandchild­ren. After the passing of her husband three years ago, her main goal has been to keep busy. She has various hobbies, along with supporting her local community while working to maintain local support the the farming communitie­s throughout the eight counties she serves.
