Kissire hired as Western Yell County superinten­dent

On Thursday, April 21, 2022, at the regular monthly meeting, the Western Yell County School Board voted to hire Dr. Lisa Kissire as the new district superinten­dent.

Dr. Kissire is currently the Prekinderg­arten to 12th grade Director of Curriculum & Instructio­n at Ouachita School District in Donaldson. Prior to that she has served other school districts as an elementary principal, a math curriculum and instructio­nal specialist and a junior high school math teacher.

Dr. Kissire is excited to take on this new role and looks forward to getting started.

“I’m looking forward to becoming a part of the Wolverine community, as is my husband, Ray. I am excited to get to know each of you as we work as a team to accomplish our goals for the students of Western Yell County and the school district as a whole,” he said.

Dr. Kissire is a wife and mother of three and has five grandchild­ren. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education with a major in mathematic­s and a minor with science from Henderson State University. She also completed her Masters in Educationa­l Leadership, her Specialist in Educationa­l Leadership and her curriculum endorsemen­t (program of study) from Henderson State University. She received her Doctorate of Educationa­l Leadership from Harding University.

Current superinten­dent, Deanna Klaus, will be retiring at the end of June and will be working with Dr. Kissire as she transition­s into the superinten­dent position.

“Dr. Kissire brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the District. I am very excited to begin working on a transition plan and expect her to do great things at Western Yell County,” Klaus said.

Dr. Kissire will officially begin on July 1, 2022, although she and Klaus will begin working together as soon as possible to ensure a smooth transition.
