- By Gerren Smith

HOT SPRINGS NATIONAL PARK — In a tough outing on the road Friday in Cobra Country, the hometown Malvern Leopards came up short to Fountain Lake 12-1 in a five inning showcase in their final meeting in conference baseball competition.

The Cobras struck revenge against the Diamond Leopards as they completed the league season meetings with a split at 1-1. The Diamond Leopards sparked with a run scored by Patrick Doss which came in the top of the fifth, but unfortunately would be the lone trip around the bases for the visiting hometown performers against the Cobras. The Leopard trio of Tyson Cooper, Tyler “TG” Golden and Hunter Adams each powering a hit apiece in the frame to ignite Malvern’s offensive execution.

On the mound, Golden pitched four innings and struck out three batters while giving up 10 hits, eight earned runs to showcase Malvern’s production from the rubber. Fountain Lake’s Wesley Campbell earned the victory and struck out seven batters, giving up three hits, one run from pitching five innings for the Cobras.

Leading the Cobra’s offense in the frame was Evan East, Kadin Hilton, and Campbell all collecting a home run apiece to ignite the highlight hits of the contest. Fountain Lake tallied 12 runs on 10 hits to secure the 11-run victory.
