3 Bees closing after more than 20 years in business

- By Virginia Pitts Staff Writer

Shauna West, owner of Malvern thrift store staple, 3 Bees Emporium, said the high- end consignment business will be closing at the end of the month. Saturday will be the last day of operation for the store currently located at 411 S. Main St.

Many people in town will be sad to see it go, as the family- owned store has been a great place for people to find affordable brand- name clothing, furniture, and other items for decades.

“My grandma, my mom and my grandpa started it almost, probably over 21 years ago,” West said. “She passed away and gave it to my sister, and so forth, it got to me, and I’ve had it for two and a half years.”

“It started out in a little trailer across from Walmart,” West said. “They had a little building over there, and then they moved down by movie theatre in one of those buildings, and then it was in where 2nd Chance was, and then she bought this building.”

That was 15 years ago. The building has since developed repair and maintenance issues that are too extensive and costly, and the building’s owners decided it was time to sell.

West said she would love to find a new home for the business but needs at least 5,000- 7,000 square feet of space, and she has been having difficulty finding another building that would suit her needs.

West and many others in town are hopeful that she gets a line on another option, but until then, West said she wants to thank all her customers and said she will greatly miss them.
