Leopards, Lady Leopards remain competitive in defeat to Robinson at home

MALVERN — The hometown Malvern Leopards and Lady Leopards soccer teams returned to their home field for conference play Tuesday hosting Robinson in two competitive match-ups at Claude Mann Stadium on David Alpe Field.
The Lady Leopards came out strong and provided a productive performance, but the visiting Robinson Lady Senators prevailed 8-0. The Lady Leopards were short handed, but continued their strong efforts of competitiveness to make Robinson earn their victory in league play.
In the nightcap, the Leopards also brought out a high level of competitiveness against the Senators. In an aggressive, physical match-up for 80 minutes the Leopards fell short to Robinson 1-0 in their league contest.
Malvern soccer head coach Se th Roberts maintained a high level of respect for his teams’ performa n c e against
Robinson. Despite Malvern coming up on the short end of victory in two shutout defeats, Roberts thought his teams kept a competitive edge in their battles for the hometown Leopard Country soccer fans at Claude Mann Stadium.
“The girls were down a few with injuries but played hard,” Roberts said. “Robinson is one of the best girls teams in the state. We cut their margin of victory in half from the last time we played them and I think that speaks volumes to how we have grown and improved throughout this season.”
Roberts stated pertaining to the Leopards match-up vs. Robinson, “The boys lost a heartbreaker 1-0 giving up a goal in the last 15 minutes. They continue to fight and get better. I am proud there is no quit in them regardless of the circumstance.”

Today, the hometown Malvern Leopards and Lady Leopards are geared up for a bigtime home finale performance hosting Mena on senior night at Claude Mann Stadium, David Alpe Field. Next week, the Leopards and Lady Leopards travel to Bauxite to finish the regular season in conference soccer competition.
