Standout trackster Ember Hughes inks NLI at Hendrix University

BISMARCK — On a proud day in Lion Country, Bismarck’s standout trackster Ember Hughes signed a National Letter of Intent to run track and join the collegiate athletic program at Hendrix University.

The signee, Hughes has been an impressive student-athlete during her time participat­ing in the Bismarck athletic program. Recently, Hughes showcased her talents amongst the top tracksters in the Natural State at the 2022 Class 3A State Meet hosted in Lincoln.

As state qualifier trackster, she placed in several events to earn 11 points as a representa­tive of Bismarck and Hot Spring County. Hughes placed fifth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.68. She placed fourth in the high jump event and finished with a jump of 4-10 and placed seventh in the long jump event at 15-01.75.

Hughes also showcased a standout performanc­e at the 3A-7 District Meet hosted in Ashdown. She competed in the 100 meter dash and finished with a time of 13.61. She placed third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.17, and placed fifth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 67.64.

In the field events, Hughes shined and placed first in the high jump with a winning jump of 4-08. She placed second in the long jump event with a jump of 15-05 that allowed her to be a state qualifier. Hughes has excelled throughout her high school athletic career and has the opportunit­y to continue more achievemen­t on the next level.

While she continues her journey in the fast lane at Hendrix as a student-athlete, she leaves an incredible legacy in the Bismarck athletic program.
