Event to benefit Annual Summer Cereal drive

- By Virginia Pitts Staff Writer

Angela Sexton, director of financial aid at Arkansas State University Three Rivers, is passionate about addressing the problem of food insecurity in Arkansas. She is using her platform as the reigning Mrs. Hot Spring County, and her participation in the upcoming Mrs. Arkansas America Pageant, to spread awareness of the issue.

Sexton is Team Captain of the ASU Three Rivers & Friends Community Team, who are currently collecting boxes of cereal and monetary donations for the fourth consecutive year as part of the Annual Summer Cereal Drive, sponsored by THV11 and the Arkansas Foodbank.

Sexton said as part of their collection efforts, the ASU Three Rivers & Friends will host the 2022 Cereal Bowl on campus May 21 from 10:30 a.m.-noon. Tickets are $5, and all proceeds directly benefit the Summer Cereal Drive. Every ticket sold will be subsequently entered into a door prize drawing taking place at the end of the event.

The public are encouraged to join Sexton and others in the Keith Great Room that morning for cereal, milk, juice, coffee, and conversation in support of feeding hungry children and families in Hot Spring County and across the state.

Sexton said the event will also feature a silent auction and inspiring presentations by renowned motivational speakers Walt Coleman and Shane Broad-way
