Shooting after HSHS graduation

MDR Hot Springs School District Update, from HSSD Superintendent Dr. Nehus:

“The events that took place outside of the Hot Springs Convention Center last night following the conclusion of our Graduation Ceremony continue to be under investigation. According to an official press release from the Hot Springs Police Department ‘a large fight broke out in an adjacent parking lot across from the Hot Springs Convention Center. This resulted in shots being fired and multiple people injured.’ We are heartbroken that these violent events took place following such a beautiful celebration for our graduates and their families. Our Law Enforcement Officers and staff will continue to do all that we can to collaborate with local law enforcement agencies/officials to complete an investigation. Our School Counselors and staff will be working with students today at school who witnessed events or have concerns/fears. Our hearts and thoughts continue to be with the individuals and families who suffered injuries.”

One man has died as a result of the shooting. Hot Springs Police arrested the alleged gunman after shooting him.
