Lady Warriors’ strong second half secures road win against Lady Hornets, 41-36

LADY WARRIORS ROLLING TO 5-0 START, POST IN TEAM DOUBLE-DIGITS WITH 12 STEALS AGAINST SSBB

In a close battle on the hardwood Thursday night, the Ouachita Lady Warriors prevailed against South Side Bee Branch Lady Hornets 41-36 in a non-conference match-up for senior high girls basketball competitio­n.

The Lady Warriors improved to 5-0 overall.

Ouachita sparked to a three-point edge over the Lady Hornets 11-8 to finish first quarter action.

In the second, the Lady Hornets regained their momentum to outscore the Lady Warriors 14-7—holding Ouachita under double-digit scoring. At halftime, the Lady Warriors went to the locker room with a four-point deficit— trailing SSBB, 22-18.

In the second half, the Lady Warriors regrouped and took command to outscore the Lady Hornets 23-14 for third and fourth quarter scoring combined. The x-factor of the match-up came in the fourth quarter where the Lady Warriors poured 16 points through the net and defensivel­y held the Lady Hornets under double-digits with six points scored for the final eight minutes of game action.

For the game, Lady Warriors’ Emma Williams led the surge with a double-double of 11 points, 12 rebounds and four steals—draining one trifecta beyond the arc. Delaney Daniell followed with nine points, swished three triples beyond the arc, grabbed four rebounds, one assist and had three steals.

Olivia Waters sank eight points and made 4-of-5 shots at the free-throw line. Waters had seven rebounds, two assists, two deflection­s and one steal. Rylee Gray added five points with five rebounds, three deflection­s and one assist. Abrie Ables sank a huge three-pointer to contribute three points, had one steal, two assists and one rebound. Carley Cox chipped in one point from the charity stripe, pulled down four rebounds, had two steals with a deflection.

UP NEXT

Tonight, the Lady Warriors are scheduled to travel to Maumelle Charter for hoops and carry their unbeaten season on the road thus far to begin the 2022-2023 basketball season.
