Louise Scott White, age 95 of Malvern, saw her Savior face to face on Wednesday evening, May 3, 2023, after passing away at Encore Health and Rehab. She was born on May 1, 1928, in Cove Creek, Arkansas to the late Thomas Scott and Sarah Beatrice Cook Scott. Reared and educated in Malvern, she was a 1946 graduate of Malvern High School. Her working life was long and varied: she was employed by ACME Brick for over 20 years; by Internatio­nal Paper Co. at their Flakeboard plant and their satellite offices for 18 years, and finally at White Furniture Company in Benton for 32 years, retiring on her 90th birthday. Louise, or “Scottie” as she was known by close friends, had been a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Malvern for 90 years, having taught Sunday School for all ages, was a member of the choir for over 40 years and was active in the WMU. Louise was the widow of the late Norris White, to whom she was married on November 25, 1955. He preceded her in death in 2005. A longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, she served as secretary for over 40 years and hosted an annual tea for the Girl’s State representa­tives and their mothers. She was also a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. Louise was a wedding planner for many years before that vocation became commonplac­e. Always looking to help someone, she drove friends to church and doctors’ appointmen­ts, and delivered Meals on Wheels for the Malvern Senior Center. Louise was the recipient in 2019 of the Malvern/ Hot Spring County Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievemen­t Award. At the age of 91, she ziplined at Family Farm! She had a servant’s heart and a smile that was infectious.

She is survived by her son and daughter- in- law, Scott and Jennifer White of Benton; two grandsons, Jenson White of Fayettevil­le, Arkansas and Lawson White of Benton; nephews, Bill White ( Shannon), Melvin Finley ( Linda), and Pat Toomey ( Linda); nieces, Debbie White, Sarah Hays ( William), and Teresa Pleasants ( Sid).

Louise was also preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Toomey, and an infant brother, Robert Earl Scott.

A visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon, May 7, 2023, from three until five o’clock at J. A. Funk Funeral Home.

Funeral services will at eleven o’clock Monday morning, May 8, 2023, in the funeral home chapel with Brother Billy Bartlett and Dr. Verne Wickliffe officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Fairplay Cemetery.

Pallbearer­s will be Roger Lederer, Mike Taylor, Mitch Rose, Jim Burns, Lawson White, and Jenson White.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Malvern, or to the Hot Spring County Historical Society.
