Ralph Clayton “Pete” Manning, III

Pete Manning, age 64 of Hot Springs, Arkansas, died Saturday, May 6, 2023, at CHI St. Vincent in Hot Springs. He was born on June 23, 1958, in Malvern to Ralph Clayton Manning, Jr. and Karen Reynerson Manning. He was reared and received his early education in the Glen Rose School district. He joined the United States Marine Corps, where he earned the rank of Sergeant. For most of his career, Pete worked in the fiberboard industry. Prior to moving back to this area in 2018 to be close to family and his grandson, he worked as Wood Procuremen­t Manager at Malvern MDF ( Arauco). He also held several positions at Bennettsvi­lle MDR ( Arauco) in South Carolina, where he had lived since 1991. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, and loved riding his tractor. Surviving cancer in 2014, his early retirement in 2019 was caused by a debilitati­ng stroke.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Karen ( Kay) Manning, and lifelong childhood friend, Pat Nelson.

His survivors include: his wife, Liz, partner and helpmate of 33 years; son, Justin Manning; brother, Adam Manning; three sisters, Vickie Manning, Brenda Overton, and Ruth Manning; his father, Clayton Manning, Jr., and his grandson, Greyson Manning; also many nieces, nephews, and loving friends..

The funeral will be at 12 noon on Friday, May 12, 2023, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with a visitation preceding the service by one hour, beginning at 11: 00. Committal service with Military Honors rendered by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard will follow in Manning Cemetery.
