William J. “Bill” Golding

On Monday, May 8th, 2023, William J. “Bill” Golding, passed away with family by his side in Arkansas Hospice at CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock.

Bill, 80, was born in Malvern, AR, to James Henry and Pauline Thomerson Golding. Bill earned the rank of Eagle Scout before his graduation from Malvern High School in 1961. Drafted by the US Army, he served as a medic stationed in Kitzingen, Germany. Upon his return from his Army service, he married Ann in 1967 and they built a life together in their hometown of Malvern where they were faithful members of Third Baptist Church. Bill retired from Reynolds Metals Company after working for many years as a millwright.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife of 55 years, Ann Clifton Golding, and by two brothers, Samuel Golding and Steve Golding.

Survivors include his three children, Lori Newman ( Joel) of North Little Rock, Amy Purdy ( Rob) of League City, TX, and JP Golding ( Dede) of Malvern. He was a beloved Pawpaw to Hannah and Haylee Newman, Nick Purdy, and Colby Rucker. He is also survived by his sisters, Gloria Phillips and Alyce Smothers, and his sistersin- law, Sue Burks ( Randy), Barbara Hall, and Mary Beth Roseberry ( Richard) all of Malvern. He was a special “Uncle Bill” to many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6: 00 – 8: 00 pm on Thursday, May 11th, at Regency Funeral Home.

Due to lack of space at Cooper Cemetery, there will be a private burial for family only. Brothers Bobby Goodnight & Tom Strike will be officiatin­g the graveside service. Pallbearer­s will be Jeff Burks, Michael Hall, Mark Hall, Brandon Roseberry, Justin Roseberry, Colby Rucker, and Shane Byrd.

The family would like to thank the wonderful doctors and caring staff at Saline Memorial Hospital as well as the ICU and Arkansas Hospice staff at CHI St. Vincent in Little Rock. We appreciate the respect and compassion they showed to our dad.
