Sowell Management Adds Controller

Seasoned Controller Positions Firm for Growth

- Special to the MDR

Sowell Management, a privately held Registered Investment Advisor (RIA), today announced the addition of a new controller. As an RIA, the company offers an expanding array of services to independent financial advisors across the country, providing them with the people, processes and technology that allows them to be in business for themselves.

Daryl Seaton, the company’s president, said Robert Geary, a Certified Public Account (CPA) with 20 years of experience in accounting and management, has joined Sowell Management to provide strategic insight and oversee the day-to-day management of Sowell Management’s finance division.

“Robert is responsible for Sowell’s financial reporting, planning, and budgeting, system of internal controls, corporate accounting and treasury management,” Seaton said. “Basically, he’s now at the helm of all things financial.”

Prior to joining Sowell, Geary held various controller and vice president positions with publicly traded companies, primarily in the food distribution and logistics industries. His former jobs included positions at Rich Logistics and Performance Food Group in Little Rock. He has his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.

Geary lives in Malvern, Arkansas, with his wife, Leah, and has three daughters and a granddaughter.

Sowell Management, which has been in business for more than two decades, was profiled by Barron’s in 2020 and Forbes in 2022 as one of America’s Top RIA Firms and currently serves more than 100 Independent Advisor Representatives (IARS) and 20 RIAS across the nation with more than $4 billion (AUM/AUA).*

Seaton said hiring someone of Geary’s caliber and experience in the controller position was necessary because Sowell Management continues to grow. “Since the fourth quarter of last year, we have added seven new financial advisor partners. Those are folks who are turning to us because we meet them where they are, whether that’s breaking away and becoming independent, looking to expand or even providing succession planning when they’re ready for their next move,” he said.

Geary said he is excited to be joining a growing operation. “I was drawn to Sowell Management because of its excellent reputation in the industry. But frankly, I chose the company because they are good people with good leadership doing good things every day for their clients. I’m happy to be part of what’s next for the company,” he added.
