MHS Leopard golfers compete at state
Malvern’s Aidan Morrison, Carter Pulley finish strong amongst the top 4A state golfers in Jonesboro
JONESBORO — The hometown Malvern Leopard golfing standout duo of Aidan Morrison and Carter Pulley represented productively on the green last week to finish in the top 20 amongst the state’s elite golfers while performing in the 2023 Class 4A State Boys Golf Championships hosted Sage Meadows Golf Course in Jonesboro.
Morrison made his second consecutive state tournament appearance, while Carter debut for the first time in his high school career. Morrison shot an 83 and Carter finished with a 82 for the duo’s performance in the state tournament.
The 4A state boys golf tournament featured quality golfers from schools at Bauxite, Berryville, Clinton, Clarksville, Crossett, Fountain Lake, Gravette, Magnolia, Pea Ridge, Trumann, Waldron, Wynne, Joe T. Robinson and Monticello that qualified to compete as individuals. Morrison and Pulley both led the Leopard golfers this season to earn medalist honors throughout the regular season matches.
They both performed well as state qualifiers in the 7-4A Conference Tournament. Morrison shot an 87 to qualify to compete at state—while Pulley shot an 77 only six strokes shy from the overall lowest best score for medalist at the conference tournament.
Pulley earned All-conference honors as the Leopards finished fourth overall.
Also teammates, Maddox Allen shot a 96 and Peyton Hedges finished with a 117 to perform well at the conference tournament to represent the hometown golfers.
Malvern golf head coach Seth Roberts was proud of the Leopard golfers this season and had two standout members from the team to qualify and compete at the 4A state boys golf championships—which allowed Malvern to have consecutive seasons making a state tournament appearance.
