Rivals’ Glen Rose, Bismarck set for second league season showdown

Tonight, the in-county rivalry showdown between Glen Rose and Bismarck hits the hardwood in the Beaver Dam at the Glen Rose Sports Arena. It’s basketball homecoming night at Glen Rose and the Beavers and Lady Beavers look to even their league season match-ups against in-county neighbors Bismarck for a Friday night showcase of intense hoops. The Bismarck Lions and Lady Lions swept conference victories against Glen Rose in their first conference match-up at Holt Gymnasium. The Lady Lions defeated Glen Rose 42-23, while the Lions prevailed against the Beavers 61-49. Top performers in the first conference rivalry meeting, Lady Lions’ Avery Efird led the way with 13 points and Alydia Zia netted 10 points—while Kate Stiffler had six points but snatched 10 rebounds off the glass to showcase the Bismarck’s performers posting in double-figure scoring and in rebounding. Lady Beavers Aubrey Pennington led the way with seven points.

For the Lions, Gabe Digiacomo led the way with a double-double and scored 18 points with 10 rebounds off the glass—preston Hughes followed with 15 points and had five rebounds, while Joseph Porter finished with 11 points and had two rebounds and two steals to ignite a trio of Lions posting in double-figures. A trio of Beavers scored in double-figures—trace Bussell and Ty Hood led the way with 12 points apiece with Ethan Cauffiel finishing with 11 points.

Tonight, the second meeting and match-up of the regular season anticipate­s a high intense battle of pride on the line before the 3A-7 District Tournament approaches. This year’s 3A-7 Boys and Girls District Tournament will be hosted by Bismarck at famous Holt Gymnasium.
