Lady Lions put up tough fight in home battles
BISMARCK — The Bismarck Lady Lions had two tough match-ups in senior high girls basketball competition for 3A-7 Conference play. The Lady Lions came up short in a tough home losstuesday night against the Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals 63-46 at the famous Holt Gymnasium.the Lady Lions’victoria “Tori” Lingo led scoring with a whooping 20 points and Alydia Zia surged with a big 17 points to roar a duo of double-figures for the teams’ top performers of the night.
In Bismarck’s previous conference match-up, the Lady Lions had a tough loss to the Centerpoint Lady Knights 51-35. The Lady Lions sparked early with a 12-5 lead in the first quarter. But, Centerpoint journeyed back in the second quarter and outscored Bismarck 14-9 to post a double-digit scoring period. At halftime, the Lady Lions had a two-point deficit 21-19. In the escond half, Centerpoint ignited their highest scoring period of the contest with a 18-point spurt in the third quarter and outscored Bismarck 18-5.At the end of three quarters of action, the Lady Lions trailed Centerpoint 37-26. In the fourth, the Centerpoint Lady Knights poured 14 points to outscore Bismarck in the finalperiod. The Lady Lions netted nine points in the fourth, but just wasnt’ enough to overcome their double-digit deficit of 11 at the start of the final quarter of action. For the game, Lady Lions’avery Efird led the way with nine points.
Also, the Lady Lions roared in a productive outing on the hardwood defeating Genoa Central Lady Dragons 55-35 for a 20-point home victoyr. Zia led the way with a big 19 points, while Efird and Kate Stiffler each ignteid 10 points apiece.
The Lady Lions hosted the ranked Fouke Lady Panthers in their final league season match-up Thursday but Bismarck fell short in victory.
The Lady Lions would fall to 5-6 in conference play and 11-13 overall.
