In-county rivalry hoops: Lady Beavers, Lions victorious in second meeting in conf. match-ups
GLEN ROSE — On Homecoming night in Glen Rose Friday, it was an in-county rivalry showcase on the hardwood at Beaver Dam between Glen Rose and Bismarck hoopsters battling in their final 3A-7 Conference match-up in senior high hoops. In a split of victories, the Glen Rose Lady Beavers sought redemption and defeated their visiting rival Bismarck Lady Lions 46-28 in the featured nightcap match-up for senior high girls competition.
The Lady Beavers’ Olivia Launius led all scorers with 14 points in double-figures. Zavery May followed and added eight points and sank a triple from 3-point land. Hadley Hood finished with six points, while teammates Christina Vann contributed seven points, Aubrey Pennington had five points and Maddi Hutcheson chipped in five points from the charity stripe.
Jaelyn Carter sparked from the field to score two points in the Lady Beavers’ 18-point victory. For Bismarck, Alydia Zia led the way with 11 points and drilled two triples from beyond the arc as the lone player in double-figures for the roaring Lady Lions.
Kyleigh Schoultz followed and finished with seven points, Zoey Simmons added four points, Kate Stiffler netted three points, Victoria “Tori” Lingo chipped in two points and Avery Efird contributed a point at the charity stripe.
In the senior high boys duel, the visiting Bismarck Lions roared to a 63-27 road win and swept their league season match-up against the Beavers. Bismarck’s Preston Hughes led the way and dropped 15 points and snatched three rebounds with two steals and two assists—riley Tuttle had 12 points with two rebounds and three assists—while Gabe Digiacomo added 11 points with eight rebounds and Ben Keithley poured in 10 points with four rebounds, two steals and three assists to complete a four roaring Lion hoopster core in double-figures. Jacob Bingham contributed seven points with eight rebounds and Dalton Daniels sank four points with Dayton Burchfield chipping in three points.
For the Beavers, Ethan Cauffiel led the way with eight points, Ty Hood and Wyatt Stanley each sparked with six points apiece, Trace Bussell finished with five points, Gage Hood and Lane Franks each contributed with four points apiece, Carson Null added two points and Weston Stanley chipped in a point at the charity stripe.
Ty Hood and Cauffiel each drilled two triples from beyond the arc to showcase some productive shooting for the Beavers.
